"I am a German Grand Prix rider/trainer and have trained horses and riders internationally in the Middle East, the Far East, Australia, South Africa and the US as well as taking regular clinics in the UK."
Angela is well known on the dressage circuit as a rider/trainer and competed to Inter II in the UK. She is one of a small handful of UK trainers accredited by British Dressage to train BD apprentices; she is also a UK CC Level 3 Dressage Coach. As a former 3DE rider, Angela knows well the special requirements of event riders whilst never losing sight of correct training.
Her book Understanding Dressage Training, written with Andrea Hessay was published in January 2011 and is available on Amazon.
Their second book, ‘Advanced Dressage Training: Medium to Grand Prix’, published in November 2015, is available from Angela and also via Amazon.
“The TRT Method – devised and developed by Tristan Tucker, is a way of helping your horse learn to control his physical body, by a series of exercises, so that he learns to be mentally calm, confident and relaxed within himself and can cope with whatever life throws at him.
Although there are some similar exercises, TRT is not a desensitizing, flooding or habituation method. These methods just get a horse used to some scenarios but don’t address the ability to cope with new outside problems and experiences.
TRT addresses the overall problems of stress and fear to the point where the horse can control himself in new situations, even though his instincts tell him to take flight! This is not a new, quick-fix method, it is based on tried and tested methods by horsemen worldwide. However, Tristan takes it a step further by using exercises on the ground that transfer to ridden exercises – he is a Grand Prix dressage rider so he knows about our sport and its specific needs. He has demonstrated his method at the Global Dressage Forum and at Carl and Richard’s Dressage Convention.
Angela signed up for, and followed, the TRT method and finds it of great value in her every day teaching, with great results for horses and riders.
However, to be clear, she does not represent Tristan Tucker in any capacity nor is she an official practitioner of the method.
